The Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union (ACSSU) atYorkUniversityfirst time participation, in the 2010 Multicultural Week Food Fair on Tuesday February 8th was a successful and enriching experience. The Food Fair was a day filled with learning, cultural sharing as well as diverse and fine cuisine.
Our own table was filled with Assyrian dishes such as booshala, biryani. Kooba, booraq; as well as the traditional dessert kileche. Our section had people of multiple backgrounds and ethnicities coming to enjoy our food as well as the sharing of Assyrian culture through our beautiful décor of Assyrian historical sculptures and our informative displays. However, the rewarding experience of the Food Fair was more than about the food, it allowed for the Yorkstudent body to learn of the thriving existence of Assyrians within our school. It was an event that was helpful in raising the awareness of our societies growing presence through our pamphlets and handouts.
The Food Fair was an enjoyable and successful event for the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union andits bright and blossoming future within YorkUniversity. Through the dedicated and hard work of our members our future events and involvement in school celebrations will be just as successful. ACSSU would like to thank all the people who contributed and came out to support.
