Finance Director

Job Description

Under the supervision of Bet Nahrain Assyrian Heritage Centre Board of Director members and/or Managers, the Director of Operations is responsible for coaching and mentoring fellow employees in their day to day responsibilities, reviewing and analyzing all event details and decisions, and overseeing and managing employee issues and concerns.

Responsibilities 

  • Ensuring that employees follow their specific project/team plans
  • Ensuring submission of weekly employee work logs to organizational supervisor.
  • Reviewing weekly goals and projects with organizational supervisors.
  • Preparation of weekly reports to organizational supervisors.
  • Coordinate and ensure weekly mentor visits
  • Manage employee schedules and resolve any scheduling conflicts.
  • Handling fellow employee HR issues that may arise and relaying any concerns/problems to supervisors.
  • Act as a liaison between various team leads and organizational supervisors
  • Some administrative work
  • Some evening and weekend work will be required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A student 15-30 years of age who has an intent to return to school next term.
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a large group of people.
  • Previous management experience is an asset.
  • Good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring other student.
  • Strong listening and team building skills.

Marketing Director

Full-Time (40 hours/week) from May to August 2017

Job Description

Under the mentorship and supervision of members of the Bet Nahrain Assyrian Heritage Centre and local marketing professionals, the Marketing Director will be tasked with improving branding, promotion efforts, and publicity of organization run events to the Assyrian and non-Assyrian communities in Hamilton and the surrounding area.

Responsibilities

  • Developing marketing strategies for upcoming events.
  • Create and publish print and social media materials/items
  • Write media content for publication on various platforms
  • Prepare media tool-kits for event promotion and publicity
  • Building connections in the community to various organizations to help expand organization recognition and event promotion endeavours.
  • Work with the Finance and Special events teams to create, develop, and propose a new fundraising event that incorporates Assyrian heritage/culture/traditions.
  • Some evening and weekend work will be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A student 15-30 years of age who has an intent to return to school next term.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Creative and artistic skills are a strong asset
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or llustrator is an asset
  • Experience using social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Special Events Coordinators

Number of Positions: 8

Full-Time (40 hours/week) from May to August 2017

Job Description

Under the direct mentorship and supervision of members of the Bet Nahrain Assyrian Heritage Centre- Board of Directors, the Special Events Coordinator will assist in the planning and execution of various mid-to large- scale activities/events in Hamilton and the surrounding area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning of existing cultural, community outreach, and sporting events in Hamilton
  • Work as part of a team to scout and book- locations, food vendors, entertainment, event volunteers, and clean-up teams
  • Work closely with Finance team to set budgets for events/activities and create protocols to ensure budget tracking and adherence
  • Work with the Marketing and Multimedia teams to develop and distribute info kits and promotional materials
  • Research and connect with potential sponsors to secure funding/merchandise/equipment
  • Produce and distribute satisfaction surveys to attendees at events
  • Creating and manage lists to ensure all event/activity related tasks and deadlines are met.
  • Work with the Finance and Marketing teams to create, develop, and propose a new fundraising event that incorporates Assyrian heritage/culture/traditions.
  • Some evening and weekend work will be required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A student 15-30 years of age who has an intent to return to school next term.
  • Previous experience in any type of event planning and/or a passion to gain more skills in this area.
  • Detail oriented and creative
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with, and/or skilled at, making cold calls
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs
  • Interest in Assyrian culture and heritage is an asset
