Project Coordinator

Full-Time (30 hours/week) from July to August 2018

Job Description

Under the supervision of Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union Board of Director members and/or Managers, the Project Coordinator role will be administrative and will encompass scheduling of programs and activities, answering emails, and organizing any on-site events.

Responsibilities 

  • The successful candidate will coordinate the other interns and volunteer ambassadors that will represent ACSSU at community events. Communicate with the other interns about upcoming events and how to engage with other community partners.
  • Assist with daily communications via email and telephone. Ensure all other interns have an engaging, safe, and fun workplace. Assist in planning, setting up, volunteer management, and clean-up of any activities or special events.
  • Supervise and oversee the work of the other youth employees. Provide weekly communication to Board of Directors or Mentor, to ensure project completion and accuracy. Manage the productivity of other employees.
  • Develop new social and educational incentives for youth to continue participating and interacting with their local cultural communities.
  • Plan schedules, goals, and objectives; determine requirements for hospitality services, multi-media equipment, printing, and other technical services, and arrange for and manage volunteers for these services; manage event logistics.

Qualifications

  • A student 16-29 years of age who has an intent to return to school in the 2018-2019 year
  • Some post-secondary education preferred
  • Previous experience In management and/or the interest in gaining more skills in this area
  • Experience in using google drive, excel, and other organizational tools
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or has refugee protection and is legally entitled to work in Canada

Youth Coordinator

Full-Time (30 hours/week) from July to August 2018

Job Description

Under the direct mentorship and supervision of the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union Board of Directors, the Youth Coordinator will supervise and provide direction to participating youth in participating programs. Administer workshops for youth of a visible minority, and for newcomer youth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a newcomer youth mentorship program for youth in the Etobicoke North area, where they will be assisted with language services, resume building, and career related workshops. 
  • Keep a detailed log of information pertaining to emergency contacts, allergies and medically at risk participants at all events. Providing an intake system for all participants and reporting statistics to the Project Coordinator.
  • Develop new social and educational incentives for youth to continue participating and interacting with their local cultural communities.

Qualifications

  • A student 16-29 years of age who has an intent to return to school in the 2018-2019 year.
  • Some post-secondary education preferred.
  • Experience in event planning
  • Past work with youth or leadership
  • Previous experience in youth coordination and/or the interest in gaining more skills in this area.
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or has refugee protection and is legally entitled to work in Canada

Digital Media Coordinator

Number of Positions: 1

Full-Time (30 hours/week) from July to August 2018

Job Description

Under the direct mentorship and supervision of the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union Board of Directors, the Digital Media Coordinator will determine the medium best suited to produce the desired visual effect and the most appropriate vehicle for communication of the internship program in the Etobicoke North area.

Responsibilities

  •  Prepare sketches, layouts and graphic elements; Co-ordinate all aspects of production for print, audio-visual or electronic materials.
  • Digital Media Coordinator will also include the maintenance of our website and social media outlets.
  • The successful candidate will be required to become acquainted with our website provider (www.squarespace.com) and ensure proper updates of the websites during the duration of employment.

Qualifications

  • A student 16-29 years of age who has an intent to return to school in the 2018-2019 year
  • Some post-secondary education preferred
  • Previous experience graphic design or in social media and/or the interest in gaining more skills in this area
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or has refugee protection and is legally entitled to work in Canada
